Index to the kits
There is a page for each season, on which we have displayed the kits worn that year, including commemorative and variant kits, with notes on the kits and a brief summary of the season.
Wherever possible we have included photographic evidence of each kit. Many of the photographs have been sent to us by our site visitors, and we are particularly grateful to Leslie Millman for permission to include photographs from his extensive collection and to Tommy Nielsen, who has sent us many hundreds of United images.
We are hoping to identify the kits worn in individal matches. The first part of this task, identifying the kits from 1985/86 to date, has been completed and is also included on the page for those seasons. We have included a summary for each kit, although where both long and short sleeve shirts were available the final decision on which was worn was generally left to the players and so it has been impossible to include these differences in our match by match analysis. We are now researching the period between 1975 - 1985, perhaps you can help?.
